Clusters Clusters Sunday and Midweek Adult Discipleship Opportunities What is a Cluster? This opportunity will feature a new approach to adult discipleship engagement under the broader title of clusters. By basic definition, clusters involve smaller collections of people (approximately 12) that gather in the interests of advancing personal growth and reproductive discipleship influence. Weekly cluster gatherings generally feature homework assignments, and they prioritize interactive engagement during scheduled meetings. The weekly homework assignments will require a completion time of approximately one hour. Feel free to contact Chris Lentz if you have questions. Advancing the Kingdom A Collaborative Journey of Knowing, Growing, and Going The Advancing the Kingdom clusters will include three distinct participation opportunities, with two of these options occurring on Sunday morning during the second or third hour, and the other option occurring on Tuesday evening (women only). Specific times are identified below. All of these clusters will utilize the Rose Guide to Discipleship as the core curriculum. A key structural goal within the Advancing the Kingdom clusters includes mixing individuals who are less seasoned in their faith with those who are further along in their faith journey. In both cases, the idea of learning with the intention to reproduce will include a primary point of emphasis. Those interested in participating in one of the Advancing the Kingdom clusters will incur a $20 expense* (scholarships available as needed) to cover costs associated with full color copies, a binder, and a book that will be utilized to address issues of Christian identity. *Payment can be made electronically at the time of registration or via cash/personal check at the first cluster session. Two copies of the Rose Guide to Discipleship are available at Grace Central and can be reviewed as desired before making a decision about registering for this cluster. Exploring the Old Testament A Journey of Information and Inspiration September 7, 2025 – May 31, 2026 This class will include three unique parts. In Part One, we gain an understanding of how the 66 books of the Bible came to be. In Part Two, we turn our attention to the Old Testament and begin by constructing a free-hand map of Israel and answer the questions: 1) Where did important events occur? 2) Why did various empires desire to gain control of this area? and 3) Why did God choose this tiny land bridge of geography to bring glory to Himself? In Part Three, we engage in a synopsis of each Old Testament book through exploring key elements such as characters, themes, and important historical details. Through it all, we will discover that God is not full of anger, wrath, and judgment, but rather faithfulness, patience, and love. *A book by the title of Introducing the Old Testament is highly recommended as a supplement to classroom instruction. This book can be purchased on Amazon at a cost of $10.92. What to Expect Biblical Counseling is counseling that is directly centered and focused on the Bible to deal with the issues of life, leaning on the promise of 2 Peter 1:3 which says, "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness." Jon and Tammy Junker The Evangelical Alliance Mission Phone: 800-343-3144 Email: info@teamworld.org Address: TEAM PO Box 969 Wheaton, IL 60187-0969 Birthday: Jon: June 14 Tammy: May 25 Meigan Grace: October 15 Mission Focus Our mission focus is the local church because we believe Scripture teaches that the local church is God's way of reaching the world for Christ. Our desire is to see healthy, vibrant churches established in Japan. We do whatever the Lord brings our way to that end, from neighborhood outreach to translating helpful discipleship/evangelism tools, from encouraging new missionaries to helping improve TEAM as an organization through input as internship coordinators and supervisors, from pastors meetings to Japanese and foreign mission leadership meetings. Blessing: opportunities and needs abound! It has been great to see God honor it when believers and churches simply take Him at His Word, and to see changes occur such as revitalization of a church. Challenge: there are so many churches and unbelievers that are content with bare survival instead of desiring to thrive. How do we get more people to catch the vision of taking God at His word? Testimony Jon's Testimony Jon trusted in Jesus at the age of 5 and was baptized at the age of 10. He didn't really start to follow Jesus until 10th grade. It was a simple, "I will follow you" Jesus, but it changed his life. He started loving God's Word, praying, attending church, and loving people. One thing he didn't want to become was a missionary. But in college God used Acts chapter 2 to impact him in such a way that he gave up putting sports first and started preparing for being a missionary. He didn't care where it would be, but God in graciousness, let him return to Japan. Being a missionary in Japan can be really challenging, but like one of his co- workers said, "church planting is fun". God has been gracious in giving him opportunities to serve the Japanese, serve fellow missionaries and to serve his Savior. You couldn’t ask for anything better! Tammy's Testimony Tammy trusted in Jesus in the 6th grade, but didn't actually start following Jesus as Lord until a junior in college. After being discipled in Campus Crusade (now the Cru), she went on a short-term missions project in Osaka Japan. It was there that God used the verse "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Beseech the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers to the field" to call her to missions in Japan. That call continued to be confirmed as she taught English in Japan for 3 years and served at a local Japanese church (her first home church) and helped local missionaries. During work as a short-term missionary with TEAM in Japan, Tammy met Jon, and they've been serving the Lord together happily ever after since! Scott & Jayne Cuidon Global Missionary Counseling Phone: 630-580-5750 Email: scottcuidon@meintl.org Address: MEI P.O. Box 4947 Wheaton, IL 60189 Birthday: Scott: March 10 Jayne: October 28 Mission Focus Our focus is to provide a holistic approach to spiritual and emotional health for those wearied or wounded on the front lines of ministry around the globe. Through spiritual friendship, spiritual direction and biblical counseling, we offer time and space to listen to God, refocus life and ministry priorities, and rest. Three, six or twelve day retreats serve as an opportunity to heal, gain perspective, and receive input from fellow missionaries in a confidential and safe environment. Testimony Scott's Testimony: As I was filling out the application for the dorm at K-State, I had a very distinct urge to live on a certain floor in a certain dorm, although I knew no one there. As it turned out, a group of CRU students had picked that dorm floor as their evangelism target that next year. I showed up with a big “bull’s-eye” on my chest. Sometime before Thanksgiving in 1981, I was alone in my dorm room reading Hal Lindsey’s, “The Late, Great, Planet Earth” which pretty much scared me into the Kingdom ☺. And although at the time I didn’t know that I was “becoming a Christian” that night, I made a sincere decision to invite Christ into my life, to forgive my sin, and to make me the person He wanted me to be. I became more and more involved with CRU over the next months/years, to the point that I dropped out of the Architecture program that I was in because I thought I wanted to be a missionary . . . and so I transferred to Truman State to study math education. I thought that it would be easy to get into any country in the world as a math teacher. Jayne's Testimony: I remember as a young child not only wanting to please my parents, but also wanting to avoid hell (a topic spoken of often in our Free Will Baptist circles). I “asked Jesus to come into my heart” at 4, was baptized at 8, worked and grew up in the church 3-4 nights a week, and even went on mission trips, but it wasn’t until college that I began to understand what it meant to walk with Jesus daily even though I had a thorough knowledge of Scripture. I was discipled and developed a deep love for the word of God for transformation rather than knowledge.
