We are so excited to welcome kids back on Sunday mornings, starting January 17th!
Yes, things will look different than they used to but we are happy to get started. The plan outlined below is not where we intend to stay, it is only where we plan to begin. We will make adjustments to the plan as needed and take steps toward “normal” when we think we can do so in a safe and effective way. Thanks for your patience and grace as we begin moving in this new direction!

The basics:
We will be taking extra precautions, such as:
I’m ready! How do I sign my kids up?

More information - for the people who REALLY like details!
How will kids/classes be grouped?
Why are masks required for Kids Sunday School?
Why can my child only attend for one hour?
What happens if we have a positive case?
What about Kids & Family Worship?
- Nursery - The nursery will not be staffed, but will be open if you have a child younger than 2 who needs to get down and wiggle! Nursery capacity will be held to 8 people.
- Preschoolers - Generally will be grouped by age.
- Elementary Kids - K-5 grade will either meet all together in Kid Central or will be divided into lower and upper elementary based on our numbers.
- Families - We will attempt to group kids in the same families together when possible.
- Classes may be sorted or arranged differently from week to week depending on how many kids are registered.
Why are masks required for Kids Sunday School?
- We know that opinions on masks vary from family to family, it’s our goal to be able to open up Kids Ministries on Sunday mornings in the safest and most effective way possible. At this point in time we believe it is in the best interest of our kids and their families, and our volunteers and their families to require masks for those age four and over.
- The decision to require masks will also allow us to expand the number of kids we are able to hold in each room. The reopening committee has agreed to raise room capacities, with the stipulation that kids and volunteers will be masked.
- We will have disposable masks on hand in case someone forgets to bring one (or drops it in the potty… true story.)
Why can my child only attend for one hour?
- Simplicity - Our goal is to ease back into Kids Ministry with a simplified framework so that we can be safe and successful. Then we will build back towards “normal” as we are able.
- Space - We want to allow for as many kids as possible to have a chance to come in.
- Volunteers - We have enough to begin with a basic framework, but will need to add to our team to expand to more classrooms. This reason is secondary to the matter of keeping things simple right now, but please let us know if you would be willing to serve!
- Cleaning - Holding families to reservations for one service allows us to have a break between each hour of the morning to wipe down surfaces, and swap out toys in the younger rooms.
- Tracking - Isolating kids to one hour of the morning will allow us to identify more easily who was exposed should we have someone test positive for the virus.
What happens if we have a positive case?
- We will be carefully tracking attendance in all rooms.
- If we learn that a child tests positive after joining us on a Sunday, we will notify the families of children in the same classroom and let them know.
- Please let us know if your child becomes ill after being with us on a Sunday.
What about Kids & Family Worship?
- It has been a privilege to join together with families in worship over the past few months.
- When Sunday School begins on January 17th, Kids and Family Worship will no longer continue to meet on a weekly basis.
- We are brainstorming how we might continue to offer a Kids and Family Worship experience on a periodic basis! Please let us know if you have thoughts on this.
