What Makes God Smile? "Without faith it is impossible to please God…" Hebrews 11:6 |

In Hebrews 11 God has listed a great group of folks in what has often been referred to as the "Hall of Faith". Abraham, Moses, Noah, Abel, Rahab & Sarah to name a few. Yet one of the more intriguing people you will meet is Enoch. We find 4 verses on this Old Testament saint in Genesis 5:21-24. For all the others listed in Genesis 5 we read the familiar refrain of "so & so lived x number of years…and they died." Except for Enoch. For Him God has recorded that Enoch lived for 65 years and had a son and then we read "and he walked with God for 300 years; then he was no more, because God took him away". His legacy- one who walked with God and God took him. In Hebrews 11 Enoch is listed immediately preceding the verse quoted above. That those who make God smile are the ones who trust Him, who are willing to live life by faith. It isn't an issue of never failing, for you can point to almost each life listed in Hebrews 11 and find failure! There were people of all kinds of backgrounds and vocations. What they all shared was a sense of trusting God no matter. They made conscious decisions to put their hope in God rather than in themselves or in the things they could see. This is what makes God smile- chose today to trust Him! See You on Sunday @ Hope House! |
Items of Praise & Prayer
Praise God- the Greece team in which Gina is a part had a need of over $ 6,000 when we met Sunday for class. As of today the need is less than 2,000. As Gina said on Sunday- they may now have the funds to return to the states!
Pray for the 10 students & 2 adults who are in New Orleans reminding people there how Great God's love is for them. Pray for a safe end to the week and safe return on Sunday. Kirsten Warman is one of the students on this trip
Continue to ask God to bring buyers for the homes that Keith & Julie Carlson have constructed.
Pray that God would give us great faith & boldness to invite people to StoneBridge!
Pray for an opportunity to do ministry in Dardenne.
Carlson's had a great visit with Chris!
Pray for Mike's dad Bob Warman. He is still in the hospital with a fracture in his back. Pray for healing & for mom who is home alone in the evenings. Praise the Lord there has been some progress. Pray too as we seek someone to clean the home .
Last week we were praying for contacts regarding the Web site- We want to say Thanks to Fred Smith who has got our new web site up- now we are in need of someone who will help up reach our community by providing help to get the site looking good!
Pray that God would give us 20 families by end of August.
