Take It In Bite Size Chunks
Okay. So you've committed to getting into God's Word on a regular basis. Great! That's awesome. Get ready to be totally stoked by God as He begins to show you some pretty sweet stuff in His Word. Here's some advice to begin with: Start off with bite size chunks. No, I'm not talking about your grandmother's Christmas fruitcake. I'm talking about your Bible. The biggest mistake people make when they try to start reading God's Word regularly is that they try to read too much too soon, and when they fail to meet their reading goal, they get discouraged and give up. When it comes to beginning a new routine of reading the God's Word regularly, start with small readings, and as you get into the groove, slowly begin to add more to what you read every day. Here is a good goal to start off with: Try reading your Bible for 5-10 minutes a day, five days a week. This is a realistic reading goal that you can achieve. After 2-3 weeks of reaching this goal, then add 5 minutes to your reading time. Every 2-3 weeks, continue to add 5 minutes to your Bible reading time. If things are going well, add another day to your routine as well. Before you know it, you'll be reading God's Word 20-25 minutes a day, six days a week, and best of all, you'll be loving it! God loves you so much, He can't wait to show you amazing things about Himself and His Son Jesus in His Word, so meet with Him as often as possible in the pages of His Love Letter to you - the Bible!
