One of my favorite verses in the Scriptures is Micah 6:8. Here the prophet Micah writes this: "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Here God lays it out for us plain and simple: This is what I want from you. Seek justice, pursue kindness, and walk with Me in humility. Oh, and by the way, this is really good stuff… How can you, a teenager, seek justice? When you see someone being bullied, intervene and stand up for them. If you run into a homeless man on the street, buy him a meal and give him your coat. To seek justice on an international level, check out the following websites and take action: www.ijm.org; www.savedarfur.org; www.one.org. How can you pursue kindness? Go sit down with that kid who always eats by himself. Help the girl who dropped her books in the hallway pick them up. Finally (and most importantly), how can you walk humbly with Jesus? Be real with Him. Admit your brokenness and rely upon His strength, not your own, to carry you through life. By the way, walking with Jesus also means that you are in stride with Him, going the same direction that He is. In closing, one important thing to recognize is that these are things that the Lord requires of us. So seek justice, pursue kindness, and walk humbly with Jesus. When you do these things, you will be blessed, others will be impacted, and God will be glorified. How cool is that?!
