I don't know about you, but I'm tired of Christians like you and me being hearers and not doers. I'm tired of spiritual laziness and apathy. I'm tired of disobedience and rebellion. You know what? Jesus was tired of it to. Check this out… In Luke 6:46-49, we see Jesus teaching His disciples and followers, and this is what He said: "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete." What Jesus was saying is this: "When you call me 'Lord,' you're acknowledging that I am in authority over you, and you are in willing submission to me, yet you still don't obey what I tell you to do? What's up with that? Here's the deal. When you do what I say, when you obey my commands - you will be able to stand strong against the flood of worldly temptations. But when you're lazy, apathetic, or just downright rebellious and don't do what I say, you're toast. The world will eat you for breakfast. So which one would you rather be? The one who obeys my words and stands strong, or the one who ignores me and gets trashed?" Again, I don't know about you, but I want to be a hearer and a doer. I want to obey the words of Jesus and build a strong foundation upon which I can stand fearlessly against the world. Don't you? I recently heard this group of Christians call themselves "Red Letter Christians." Why? Because in many Bibles, the words of Christ are printed in red, and these Christians wanted to make sure that they took to heart and practiced all the words in red. That's awesome! Now may you and I be Red Letter Christians. May we be moved to complete submission and obedience to the words of Jesus. May we follow Him passionately, so that we can stand strong against the world!!!
