Mysteries have always had a great fascination for many people. A quick perusal of any book store will reveal scores of mystery books that attract many purchasers. Movies and TV have also fed the mystery fans a constant barrage of "who done it" tomes. The old Sherlock Holmes and other mysteries can often be found on the old rerun channels. With great fondness I remember the Hardy Boy mysteries I devoured as a boy. Even my sister's Nancy Drew mysteries were a fascination, although I would never let the guys know that! Later as kids and into our teens we played the board game Clue for hours. I can still recall Colonel Mustard subjecting the victim to a lead pipe in the library, or was it Mrs. Peacock doing the dastardly deed with a candlestick in the ballroom? Mysteries are even so fascinating to some that they spend a whole evening riding a mystery train trying to solve some great crime. There may be some who would view that as a waste of a good train ride. Continue reading…

As many of you know, we just returned from our Senior High summer missions trip to New Orleans. It was a challenging, but amazing trip, and I would like to share with you a few of the important things God taught us while we were serving Him in the Crescent City: Continue reading…
(Editor's Note: This is the second in the series of articles by Dr. Theodore Kalivoda on the shortcomings of Bible characters. The article is written for exclusive use on the Grace Community Chapel website.)
Scripture touts Abraham as a man of faith. And indeed he was. He is said to have believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness (Gen.15:6). In spite of his great faith, however, he succumbed to deception rather than to trust God. It had to do his wife Sarah. Continue reading…
Ron & Mary are with the Navigators and have been a part of 3 or 4 church plants. They were a part of Grace shortly after God began the ministry here, and they are currently part of a new church that is reaching people for Jesus in the greater Kansas City area. I am thrilled to have them join us this Sunday June 25 to let us know it’s like to be in a church plant and how the Lord uses ordinary folks like us in extra-ordinary ways!
Plan to be with us SUNDAY JULY 16 beginning at 1:00 pm for this FIRST!! Every church needs its first potluck eh??
We'll meet at Alan & Lori Godby's, 128 Lauren's Ridge Drive. Their phone # is 636-300-9144. It'll be simply burgers & dogs (we provide) and if everyone would bring something to share. Lauren's Ridge is located off of Henning in Dardenne Prairie.
The morning of July 16 several of us will visit other church plants in the area to see what they are doing and what we can learn. Plan to be a part of this special day!
How did we get our Bible in it's present form, and how do we know that what we have is God's Word?
The history of how the Bible has come to us is one of the most fascinating aspects of Bible study. How the books were assembled, the Apocryphal books left out, and the Word transmitted through the ages is a miracle in itself.
Follow along in the outline, and listen to the audio as Pastor Hileman tells this illuminating story.

We don't have to go far in the Bible to see blunders of major people. The first two inhabitants on earth made devastating decisions that affected all people thereafter. What can we learn from them?
Adam and Eve were blessed with an earthly paradise, but at the same time they insisted on exerting independence. God gave them everything needed for joyous living. Yet they wanted more, so they yielded to the serpent's temptation. All they needed to do was to eat the forbidden fruit, Satan told them. And why not? they thought. It would open up a whole new era of existence, making them like God. The disobedience, of course, turned out to be the most momentous in all of history; its consequences were passed on to all human life, including yours and mine.

Some people say that God plays matchmaker, bringing men and women together to be married. As a single person, I wouldn't know. However, there is at least one occasion where God did seem to arrange a marriage:

With the release of the film, The DaVinci Code, the Christian community is once again reminded that the world does not recognize Jesus Christ for who He really is. Many like the author of The DaVinci Code try to imagine Jesus as just another human being subject to our typical human frailties. World religions for the most part might recognize Jesus as a prophet and teacher, but do not entertain the concept that Jesus might be God Himself.
What do we as Bible believing Christians recognize about Jesus? Was He human? Was He possibly a man into which God came at some time? Or was He truly God who came to earth as the God-Man?

Going from school to summer this year has been a major adjustment. I haven't lived at home for longer than a month since I went away to school two years ago. There are times when the Lord calls us to periods of rest and my time is now. You would think I would take this gift cheerfully but watching two family members go to New Orleans this week to help with hurricane reconstruction has been hard. I desperately need this time but abiding in Him has definitely become a struggle.
