"Earthly things do not fill." The Lord has been drilling that lesson into my head over and over the past couple of weeks. Nothing fills us except Christ. Everything that was intended to give us joy in this life is intended to do just that - give us joy. Earthly desires and pleasures can't do anything more for us because that is not their purpose. If we expect them to completely satisfy, we will be left disappointed and empty. Family does not fill. Friends do not fill. Romantic attachments do not fill. Music (or fill in your passion) does not fill. You get the point.

The Greece Team members are sponsoring a flea market / garage sale / silent auction on the church parking lot, Saturday, May 13 from 7am - 12 noon.   Call the church office if you would like to be a part of this or if you have something to donate!

When I was at a conference for youth workers this last fall, I received a sweet (and free!) t-shirt that said, TO LOVE IS TO SERVE.” I have to say that I was totally stoked when I saw what the t-shirt said because that is a lesson God has been teaching me hard-core over the last couple of years.  It’s not about me. Instead, it’s all about loving and serving others.  Continue reading…

Why should we occupy so much of our time in believing fantasies like  "The Davinci Code" when we have real eyewitnesses to the greatest event recorded in human history.

The resurrection was just such an event. That single act of Christ rising from the dead gives hope for a fallen world that there is an afterlife, and Christians are going to be there.

The problem arises because people only see what they want to see, and sadly many don't "see" the resurrection today.

There is not much new that hasn't already been said before about the Death of Christ. Yet Biblical scholars continually try to say or do something different than the last scholar said or did.

As Pastor Hileman continues through John's Gospel with John 19:23-30 as his text, he touches on the recent news events concerning the so-called "gospel of Judas" and explains the non-significance of this find.

The important thing to remember about the Death of Christ is what He has done on the cross, and His completion of the work He was sent here to do. With one act, Jesus declared His work to be finished. His Death cry was "Tetelestai" in the greek, or "it is finished", and thereby providing the only way for the salvation of lost sinners.

I am not very good at water skiing, but I do enjoy it. I am mostly a "2-ski" guy who stays inside the wake in the smooth water. But every so often I like to zip around the boat, jump the wake, and bounce around on the rough water. It's fun to get outside the wake! I think that is true in life as well, and it is definitely true of the spiritual life!

The message for Sunday Morning April 2, 2006, centered on the trial of Jesus as written in John 18:12 - 19:16.

The message concentrated heavily on the many different illegalities committed by the ruling parties of that time and place. According to the laws of the people during that period of time, Christ should never have been tried, nor put to death.

Pastor Hileman illustrates with great detail, just why Jesus chose to submit to these illegalities, and why He chose to follow His Father's will.

Listen to the message, and follow along in the outline below.

The celebration of Easter morning really begins with the remembrance of what happened the Friday before Easter.  That's the day we refer to as Good Friday.  Please join us as we reflect on the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ.  There are two services available.  The first will be from 12:05 to 12:30, followed by a light lunch.  You can rsvp for the lunch on Sunday (April 9), or call the church office.  The evening service will be from 7:00 to 7:30 pm.  We look forward to having you join us.
